En función del uso, y de los clientes conectados simultaeamente destinaras un ancho de banda a la red inalámbrica.
Ejemplo:
Red inalámbrica de 200 clientes simultáneos, red orientada a estudiantes que consultaran apuntes, navegaran vía web.
¿Cuántos puntos de acceso dispondré?, pues si cada punto de acceso me aguanta con 50 usuarios, instalre 4 puntos de acceso. ¿Qué ancho de banda tendrá la red? Mínimo 100 Mb, otorgando a cada usuario 0.5 Mb en ancho de banda.
Ahora, nos viene el gran dilema, instalación de puntos de acceso en 5 plantas, te recomiendo, que instales los puntos de acceso cableados, y en las zonas de la planta que debas de ofrecer cobertura, y el punto de acceso no la de, instala repetidores enlazándolos al punto de acceso de la planta.
La instalación quedaría, 5 puntos de acceso por planta cableados, y 5 repetidores enlazados a cada puntos de acceso.
Bien, llegados hasta aquí, puedes decir, quiero administrar los puntos de acceso, y de igual modo quiero administrar el ancho de banda, agregando políticas de descarga, limites de descarga, limitación de ancho de banda en protocolos p2p etc, en este punto deberás colocar un balanceador de carga o un firewall.
Si quieres ir más lejos, y decides contratar dos lineas ISP por ejemplo de cada una 100 MB, podrás agregarlas a un balanceeador de carga y este te ofrecerá 200 Mb de ancho de banda en la red.
Para auto administrar los usuarios, debes de instalar un servidor Radius, cada usuario dispondrá de su clave de acceso y nombre.
En resumidas cuentas, instala los puntos de acceso en cada planta, cablea desde el CPD, armario, o rack donde dispongas bocas de un switch libres.
Canaliza en cable por la planta hasta llegar a cada punto donde colocaras el punto de acceso, en las zonas de difícil acceso y mala cobertura instala un repetidor en lazado al punto de acceso.
Administra los usuarios con un servidor radius, administra la red con un balancerador de carga o un firewall.
