Halloween is on October 31 in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. During Halloween, you can get lollipopsand candy from villagers, which you can exchange with Jack for rare Spooky or Creepy furniture.
Overview
During October, Labelle sells Halloween masks, and the Nooklings sellSpooky Set furniture. On Halloween, between 6PM and midnight, you can play mini-games with villagers outside, scare villagers in their homes, and talkto Jack, who is wandering around town, for a chance to get candy and rare items.
Warning
When your villagers play tricks on you, they can permanently turn your items into other items!Be sure to either empty your pockets, or fill your pockets with things that youdon't mind losing, and be sure to wear an outfit that you don't mind losing!
How to Get Candy and Other Items
You can get candy and items from villagers and from Jack on Halloween. Outdoor villagerswill give you candy if you win their mini-games, and indoor villagers will give you candy if you scare them. Jack will give you items in exchange for candy, and can give you an item if you don't give him candy when he asks. See the next sections for further details.
Items from Jack
During Halloween, Jack will be wandering around your town. You can givehim candy to get Halloween-themed items (see the list below). Jack strongly preferslollipops and will give you better items for them, but he will also give you items in exchange for regular candy. Also, you can talkto Jack while not carrying candy or wearing headgear (or refuse to givehim candy) to get apumpkin head mask.
Outdoor Villagers on Halloween
Villagers walking outside will be wearing pumpkin head masks of differentcolors, and they will try to run up to you if they see you. If you have candy in yourpockets, you can choose 'treat' togive these villagerscandy and get a hint about what the other villagers are scared of (which you will find in the listbelow). If you don't have candy, or you choose 'trick', you can play a mini-game with these villagers. If you win the minigame, the villager gives you candy. If you lose, the villager plays a trick on you, which might make one of your items be permanentlyreplaced. Items you can get from villager pranks are a Pumpkin Mask, patched clothing items, old flooring/wallpaper, and a Jack-in-the-box.These cannot be reordered from the catalog.Wearing Halloween-themed headgear, or non-reorderable headgear, will make you get something other than a PumpkinMask. Wearing patched clothing, or non-reorderable clothing, will make you get something other than patchedclothing. You can only get the Jack-in-the-box if your pockets are full. The Jack-in-the-box will permanently replace one of your items.
Indoor Villagers on Halloween
If you go into a villager's house and talk to them while wearing the correct mask, the villager will give you a lollipop, which you can give to other villagers or exchange with Jack to getHalloween-themed items. If you are wearing the wrong mask, the villager willprank you instead.
You can get one lollipop per indoor villager. Save and reset to change which villagersare in their houses. You can also visit friends' towns to get more lollipops.

Quest Giver: | Lexil Merrâyil |
Location(s): | Sun Temple |
Prerequisite Quest: | Part of Something Momentous, Part IV |
Next Quest: | Black Light, Part II |
Concurrent Quest: | All the Dead Souls Angel A Song in the Silence |
Quick Walkthrough

- Deliver the stones to Lexil
Detailed Walkthrough
This quest will begin automatically after the end of Part of Something Momentous, Part IV. Read Lexil's notes and you'll receive three quests, that can be completed in any order:
- All the Dead Souls (with Jespar Dal'Varek, triggers Every Day Like the Last, Part IV after you give the Dal'Varek stone to Merrâyil)
- Angel (with Calia Sakaresh, triggers Two Souls, Part IV one day after it is completed)
After all three stones are inserted, Merrâyil will notice that he can no longer cast magic. This quest will end, and Black Light, Part II will begin.

5, 10, 15, 20 | Amidst all the bad news there also is a ray of hope: The arcanists found what is missing for igniting the Beacon - energy. We need three ancient artifacts called 'Black Stones', which we have to place in the sockets of the Beacon, to provide the needed energy. These stones are legendary jewels which, according Merrâyil, provide their wielder great power but in turn drive them mad. He thinks that the High Ones are also the creators of these stones. | |
25 | We've made it - thanks to the stones the Beacon now has the energy it needs. But something strange happened at the same time - Archmagister Merrâyil suddenly couldn't cast magic anymore. He fears the worst and asked me to meet Yuslan Sha'Rim in the Nobles Quarters. Yuslan currently erects the barriers which protect Ark from the Nehrimese armies. |
